Abstract

This study is an attempt to offer a deeper insight of popular culture, pointing to the presence of ethical values in it and their importance in the behaviour of the community. It stresses that these ethical values take material form in a work of art: the folk tale. Thus, this study aims at the detection and decodification of the aesthetic component of the expressive materials in four Chilean folk tales. The world picture present in popular culture contains an important implicit ethical component wich becomes explicit in the folk tales when analised from an aesthetic - hermeneutic point of view.
