Abstract

Applying a historical method, this article describes the Brazilian homoerotic press. It aims to establish how this press segment generated a dialogue with the cultural manifestations and modes of representation of homosexualities and homoerotic signs. To this end, the research analyzes O Snob, the first Brazilian homoerotic publication, from the 1960s; Lampião da Esquina, a newspaper that circulated between 1978 and 1982; Junior, a magazine published from 2007 to 2013, and Nin, the only one in circulation, that gives account of the different forms of representation of homosexualities and sexualities.

José Miguel Arias Neto, Universidade Estadual de Londrina (UEL), Paraná, Brasil

Ph.D. and master in Social History from the University of São Paulo (USP), and has postdoctoral studies in Strategic Studies at the Fluminense Federal University (UFF) and in International Relations at the São Tiago Dantas Institute (UNESP/USP /PUC-SP). He is professor of undergraduate and graduate studies at the Department of History of the State University of Londrina (UEL) and CNPq-2 researcher.

Muriel Emídio Pessoa do Amaral, Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP/Bauru), São Paulo, Brasil

Ph.D. in Communication from the Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp / Bauru), he is a Capes scholarship holder, and has a master's degree from the same institution. He was professor of the courses of Journalism, Advertising and Propaganda and Industrial Design (in a virtual modality) of the University of North of Paraná (Unopar/Londrina). He presents studies and articles on sexualities and currently researches on the circuits of perversions in communication.
