Published research have not delved into the importance of female characters deployed in telenovelas as Pasión de Gavilanes, which become references for their viewers, particularly for women. This is why, in this study, we took as reference a group of twelve Chilean women from socioeconomic segments C3 and D, followers of the telenovela, to answer questions regarding which types of identification arise from the exposure to the female roles shown in the last broadcasting of that Colombian telenovela. To achieve this purpose, from a description of the male and female roles of the telenovela, we proceed to obtain –through in-depth interviews with a semistructured guideline– the information on how women who watch the telenovela perceive them. As a result, we concluded that the admiration for a character is secondary compared to the identification by likeability, stressing that the actress or interpreter is relevant to follow the telenovela through its different chapters.
