Audio-Vision and Reception at Scene. Some Reflections on the Relation Spectacle-Spectator at ESTATUS IMAGINARIO o la Dimensión del Engaño

This article deals with the phenomenon of audience reception of the contemporary dance work ESTATUS IMAGINARIO o la dimensión del engaño (IMAGINARY STATUS or the dimension of delusion) by Chilean group SiniestraDanza, a work built on the basis of Chion’s concept of “audio-vision” (1993). For this analysis, De Marinis’ idea of “partial relativism” (2005) of the spectacle-spectator relationship was used in order to confront the creative processes of the artistic object and those related to its perception. Accordingly, two analysis were considered: the one of the visitors’ book of the season premiere of the work, and the one of an open survey that sought to rescue relevant aspects for the audience attending this show.
